If you are a serious contender, prepared to burn the midnight oil, I think it is eminently doable.

The best example I can cite is my own.

I started my career as a management trainee in a major bank.  I graduated in Economics, not technology. Before foraying into cybersecurity, I worked in practically every business line in banking: branch management, retail and corporate lending, foreign exchange, NPA management, fraud management cell.  You name it, and I did it in banking.
